Rhen Davis, 2027 Nehal Shah Memorial Global Health Award Recipient
Rhen Davis is a fourth-year medical student who loves learning about culture. Having lived in Brazil as a missionary, he discovered that dedicated effort to understand others and relate to their values builds trust and empathy. After returning home, Rhen continued to learn about the world, studying international dance for five years and traveling to half a dozen European countries to represent the United States at cultural festivals. In medical school, he has committed himself to global health initiatives, volunteering in Mexico, attending the Vive Peru medical student program, and organizing the first UArizona affiliation with a Brazilian medical school, where he will rotate in Surgery before graduation. Rhen is honored to receive the Nehal A. Shah Memorial Global Health Award for the class of 2027 and hopes to celebrate Nehal's memory by advancing her goals to fight for humanity, human dignity, and justice.
