Maria Ruiz, MD - 2023 Tracy Carroll Resident Global Health Award
Dr. Maria Ruiz completed her residency at the University of Arizona South Campus Family Medicine Residency program in June 2023. She is originally from Dallas, Texas and a first-generation physician in her family. She was drawn to Tucson for the full spectrum training program with an emphasis on rural health and its unique proximity to the US-Mexico border. She plans to continue practicing full scope family medicine in her future practice and continue to pursue interests in women's health, global health, and marginalized communities. The University of Arizona and the Department of Family and Community Medicine are fortunate to have a talented resident like Dr. Ruiz, who gives so much to the community, both globally and locally.
