Lynn Coppola, MD, MPH, 2022 Ron & Karen Pust Faculty Global Health Award Recipient

Dr. Coppola is an Assistant Professor in the Department of OB/GYN and is the Interim Program Director of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship. She served for two years (2013-2015), as the Medical Superintendent of the Baptist Medical Centre in the Northern Region of Ghana. This work was done during a 2-year leave of absence from the University of Arizona Medical Center, Tucson.

Dr. Coppola has also involved the Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellows, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Medicine residents, medical students, and other professional staff in her work in global health. Trainees learn extensively from this work both in the country and while in training. Dr. Coppola has given numerous presentations about the global work nationally and locally. She teaches in the Global Health Program in the College of Medicine. Dr. Coppola cares for women and their families in her professional work in Tucson, emphasizing attention to the underserved. She volunteers locally in the Mobile Clinic, giving free care to people in the Tucson region. Her devotion to personalized care is well-known and highly sought-after.

Since 1990, Dr. Coppola has served the citizenry in Nigeria, Kazakhstan, China, India, Kenya, and Ghana. In addition, she has been a temporary advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO), conducting ultrasound training for WHO ACTION trials in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kenya, Nigeria, and Ghana.
