Rachael Charles, 2016 Nehal Shah Memorial Global Health Award

Rachael Charles was a co-president of the student-run Global Health Forum. She completed the clinical aspects of her Global Health Track Externship in 2013 at the UBC Hospital in Mattru-Jong, Sierra Leone, where she was one of three externs. They surveyed 273 school children’s malaria and nutrition status, then assisted Mende-speaking professionals in education on these topics in the four villages surveyed. Ms. Charles had worked previously in Zambia with the Kaimas Foundation.
