ihpustx.jpg (12787 bytes) This is a practical, intensive, full-time orientation course for medical students or other graduate level health care professionals who are planning to work either short or long term in a developing country within the next one to two years.

Limited to 30 students, this is a case-based clinical orientation course originated by clinicians experienced in the medical and community health problems you will see in tropical developing nations.

The course content is intended to cover topics and issues not usually found in medical school curriculum.  For example, community assessment skills, cross-cultural communication, tropical infectious diseases, obstetrics, surgery, use of appropriate technology, and an emphasis on the clinician's community and teaching roles, as well as the clinical role.
